Ok, let's start with the obvious:
The ACTUAL 12 days of Christmas are AFTER Christmas. It's the dates from Christmas to Epiphany, Theophany, or Three Kings Day, depending on whomever is celebrating and teaching. It's a wonderful feast day in many areas, and the time between Christmas and January 6 is typically a time to recharge. Children are out of school and interacting with their families all day, workplaces are bustling, and people are in this strange post-holiday-break space of bittersweet nostalgia and, let's be honest, a little introspective regret. WE ARE TRAINED TO REGRET HOLIDAY CHOICES! We have been told that enjoying our favorite foods is a holiday weakness. We are told that we must "put in the workouts" to earn New Year's Eve champagne and hors d'oeuvres. UGH! Not on my watch!
